Designs Used on Our Products
Anderson Productions/cruisinroute66.com is pleased to carry quality, distinctively different products. The vast majority of the items are our own, not a resale of someone else's product line.
Just as there are stories and history behind the every place on Route 66, there are stories and history behind the distinctive logos we use.
Cruisin’ US 66 Design

The predecessor of Cruisin’ US 66 design was a Cruisin’ Oklahoma 66 logo, created specifically for Anderson Productions’ 1994 video of the same name. The logo (similar to the US version but using just the state of Oklahoma with the Route outlined in red) found its way onto mugs, caps, tees, etc. Then other state-by-state versions were done, finally culminating in one design that encompasses the entire U.S. The other state-by-state designs were then discontinued.
US Highway 66 Design

In 1934, the National U.S. 66 Highway Association had big plans for this design. One press release had as its headline: "Emboss U.S. 66 on the Mind of Every Automobile Traveler in America, Most Extensive and Unique Publicity Program Ever Before Inaugurated In Interest of a Highway." The goal was to get the emblem attached to hundreds and thousands of automobiles along the Route, creating a perpetually traveling, 365-day sales promotion for U.S. 66.
With the tragic death of Will Rogers in August of 1935, the Association, like so many other groups, wished to pay homage to this much-beloved American – especially since Will was from Oklahoma as were many key Association members. (If you don't know who Will Rogers was, visit the web site www.willrogers.com.)
In late 1935 at its annual meeting, the Association designated 66 as the Will Rogers Highway and a new logo was created. (A very close approximation of the Association’s Will Rogers Highway design can be seen on the granite markers erected in OK and MO over the past several years.) As a result, use of the earlier logo ceased and its memory faded into the mists of time.
Except for the occasional metal disc that comes up for auction, the logo is virtually unknown to today’s 66ers – until now. Anderson Productions/www.cruisinroute66.com is pleased to bring back a truly wonderful, authentic piece of early-day Route 66 history - at prices everyone can afford and on a wide variety of objects – not just metal discs that can be wired to the bumpers and grills of automobiles!
Rootie Design

Rootie™ is a trademarked creation of Route 66 artist, author, and photographer Jerry McClanahan. If you own the Map Series or the EZ66 Travel Guide (both of which are sold here), then you are familiar with Jerry's fun and amazing art.
These tees are the first Rootie shirts available to the general public. Up until now, Rootie has only made appearances on special-event shirts. These Rootie tees also introduce three new trademarked characters, developed in collaboration with Anderson Productions - Route Dawg, Kixxie Kat, and Fins Fargo.
A second Rootie design is in the works, for future release.
